ABOUT ME

David R. Spann is the Director and Therapist with Sovereign Journey providing psychosocial consulting, therapy, resource linkage/coordination, and life coaching to those who are seeking a safe setting in which to achieve personal and mental health goals. He has provided counseling to the community since 1992. Mr. Spann provides both individual and family therapy as well as expert navigation of a complex and confusing health system.

 

Mr. Spann blends his unique education and experience to provide opportunities for those he serves to experience physical, emotional, and spiritual growth and change while achieving freedom from obstacles to growth due to trauma, substance use, or mental health issues. His clinical experience in outpatient, residential, and hospital settings helps clients understand the relationship between the stressors on the family system due to trauma, mental illness, and addiction and the impact on quality of life. These same experiences provide efficiency and effectiveness in navigating the complex mental health care system. Mr. Spann also has significant experience in management, marketing, leadership development, personal coaching, along with an understanding of relational dynamics in corporate and agency settings.

 

Mr. Spann specializes in working with clients and families who struggle with the effects of trauma, addiction, and mental illness. (Dual Diagnosis Co-Occurring Disorders). A strength-based solution focused approach is the basis for the therapeutic process. The process is holistic with an emphasis on brain health including diet/nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and therapeutic intervention with both individual and families.
